I could go on and on about the importance of having a ‘date night’ with your partner. Kids or no kids I believe it’s something that should be a priority in every relationship, although lets be honest, pre kids it’s a lot easier to be spontaneous and find yourself on a date without much planning at all. Anyway, despite being the number one date night advocate over here, it’s still something that is tricky to fit in. Between my husband owning his own business and often working overseas or interstate, having a 12month old, being 6 months pregnant and oh you know, just the general busy-ness of life, the weeks just roll on by before suddenly it’s been months since you’ve had some quality baby free time with your partner.
Cue, call the babysitter! We are super lucky to have my parents live nearby and they jump at the chance to look after Hazelle. Such is their excitement that this morning I got a text from my mum thanking me for letting her look after the baby last night while we went out!! Yep, we have the grandparents of the year over here. Seriously though, my number one tip for making date night happen is, as soon as you have a free weekend or weeknight, just book it in. Secure the babysitter, book and pay for the movie tickets, make a dinner reservation, whatever it is just lock it in because more often than not you’ll talk about it, forget about it and then the opportunity passes.
As is always the way, we woke up yesterday morning with a million reasons why our date night could be cancelled. Hazelle had been up ALL night with a fever and cold thanks to her 12-month immunisations, I had an inconveniently timed hair appointment and Arash found out he had to fly to Sydney on Monday last minute. However, we had pre booked gold class movie tickets, my mum was excited to come over and Hazelle seemed much better and so off we went. It was the best night ever and so rejuvenating to have some quality time together.
On a fashion note, not much of my outfit is current season. I hate buying maternity clothes as they are often too big or awkward on me until the last month or two and after this little peanut is born I’m planning to take a BIG break between babies so would rather wait until after August to buy some new non maternity clothes. That being said I think those jeans are ready to be retired to post baby now. At 25 weeks plus dinner at Fonda followed by ice cream, they were definitely feeling snug! I’ve included links to all items plus similar items for anything from last season.
