Day to Night : Leather Jacket

I recently added a leather jacket to my wardrobe. Remarkably this is the first leather jacket I have ever owned. Seeing how versatile it is and how many looks I have already styled around it, I don’t know why I didn’t purchase one sooner. My top tip for buying a classic piece like this, is to make sure it’s not too heavily embellished and that the hardware (zips, buttons, metal details etc) are in a metal that will match a lot of your wardrobe. This one has a silver zip up the middle and a long silver zip on each arm but aside from that it is fairly plain. Therefore I am able to transition from casual day looks to dressier occasions seamlessly. Below are two looks I recently wore.

Jacket – French Connection, Flannel Shirt – Cotton On, Tank – lululemon, Tights – lululemon, Sneakers – Nike, Sunglasses – Ray Ban

The Sportsluxe trend is still going strong in the world of fashion and I love it because it is super easy to achieve and 100% wearable. Throw a leather jacket over your favourite gym gear and some Nike’s and you are good to go. I also like to add another non athletic apparel element like a cotton t-shirt or chambray/flannel long sleeve like you can see above. You could wear a denim jacket instead of leather but I think leather elevates it just a bit more.

Jacket – French Connection, Dress – Witchery (Similar Here), Booties – ASOS (Similar Here), Clutch – Louis Vuitton

I wore this look to go for some low key drinks on a Sunday night. Although I was wearing a dress, the jacket and beige ankle booties helped to keep the outfit a bit more casual. Keep your accessories simple with a clutch and minimal jewellery and you are good to go.

  1. French Connection is one of my favorites (I usually see it at marshals and tjmaxx). I’ve been looking for a leather jacket for fall to dress things up a bit, and I really like this one! Great post, I might have to go find that jacket lol
