Boyfriend Shorts? Girlfriend Jeans? Mom Jeans? (ok forget that one) Apparently 2015 is all about stealing other peoples’ denim wares. Why can’t we just wear our own clothes and what do these styles even look like? Not sure about the first part but the second part I’ve got covered for you below. 😉
Boyfriend jeans have been around for a few seasons now and this summer we are being encouraged to ditch the tight denim mini shorts and go for the loose, baggy Boyfriend version. These guys are oversized in all lengths, can be ripped or not and are one of the easiest styles to DIY.
Girlfriend jeans are the slightly more tapered, more feminine version of the boyfriend style. They are a bit more fitted on the hips and then run down into a slim, straight leg. Of course we can find this style in shorts as well. Similar to their full length counterparts the legs will be more tapered and the waistline will sit higher on the hips or even be high-waisted.
The shorts I’m wearing above are on the more fitted spectrum of Boyfriend shorts so you can definitely opt for much baggier versions. Although you can add strappy heels and statement jewellery to dress up some of these styles, I find them best styled with flats, t-shirts, light knits or silk camisoles to keep the look low key, casual and effortless. Below are a mix of both Boyfriend and Girlfriend shorts to help you nail this trend for summer.
