I almost can’t believe I am writing this post as I am a Black, White and Grey girl through and through, but this outfit that I wore last night got me thinking. Perhaps it’s because technically it is still SUMMER (!!) in Australia or the fact that we are heading to cooler temps overseas in a few months before Winter officially sets in here, but it was so nice to be able to put together a warm outfit completely void of black!
What really set the tone for my outfit was my new navy boots. I own many pairs of black boots, but even still I was very tempted to buy these same boots in black instead of the ‘Ink’ colour. Having never really worn boots this colour I had a few questions.
What goes with navy? Can you wear black and navy together? Will the different shades of blue look strange if I wear them with jeans?
After a full day of deliberation (seriously), I came to the conclusion that 1. It’s really not that big of a deal what colour I choose haha but 2. I already have 2 pairs of black boots so I might as well try something new. I also knew at the very least they would look good with white jeans and light coloured dresses as we transition into autumn.
However after they arrived I was really pleased to see how easy it was to pair them with most of my wardrobe. They almost act like another neutral colour, easy to mix and match with most things. Of course there are a few classic colour combos that will always work like navy and grey, navy and white, navy and pink, and although once taboo, it seems that pairing navy and black is no longer a no-go!
As you can see I went with the Navy and Pink combo. This Raspberry coloured jumper really helped the boots pop and I went with a lighter coloured handbag to keep the outfit fresh and bright, despite the gloomy clouds and rain. Now, I’m not sure if I’ll still be singing the ‘no black’ tune in the depths of winter this year but for an unseasonably cool day, I really loved it.
One thing is for sure though; you will be seeing these boots and lots more navy in my outfits to come! Xx
