If you’re anything like me, you have a wardrobe full of dresses but when the cool weather rolls in, they get shoved to the back of the cupboard and forgotten about in favour of jeans and jumpers (see previous post, oops). Sure, jeans and pants often feel more practical for winter but it is possible to eek a little extra wear out of your dresses, especially in the months before ‘true winter’ sets in. Whats the secret? Well, this season your hero piece is the sleeveless vest. This guy works perfectly with dresses, especially long sleeved ones, and looks just as good open with a short dress as it does tied up over a long dress. The heavy weight adds the right amount of warmth and texture to make sure your outfit still looks appropriate for the cooler weather but its doesn’t completely overpower the other elements of your look like a full coat would.

When the weather really starts to cool down you can add layers to your look with heavy knit sweaters, thicker winter weight dresses and tights underneath. Although trendy right now, with the right number of layers added, I wouldn’t be surprised if the sleeveless vest carried us through most of winter as well as autumn. So go on, get those dresses back out of hiding and start doing some layering. xx
