Insta Round Up

Well hello!!! Long time, no blog :(. Things are a little busy over here but tonight I’ve finally managed to carve out some time to quickly pop in to say hi! My camera roll is full of outfits I wanted to share with individual posts but I am so far behind now I figured I’d do a quick round up and hopefully start again fresh next week. If you follow me on instagram you will have seen these looks over the last few weeks so here are all the details.

You might also notice a snazzy new handbag in a few of these pictures. I have started working with a Melbourne based luxury leather handbag company called X Nihilo and they very kindly gifted me one of their designs. This is the Bank bag (direct link below). Obviously this is a higher price point so I have also linked a similar handbag if you just want to achieve the look. However if you are looking to purchase an investment piece, I can 100% vouch for the quality and design of X Nihilo. Also if you are a boutique and you’d like to talk about stocking this line, hit me up too ;).

Dress: Bohemian Traders $179, Slides: Bohemian Traders $119

How good is denim? Denim jeans, dresses, skirts, shirts; I love it all! Recently I was lucky enough to win (another) Instagram competition! This time it was with denim experts Bohemian Traders! The kind people over at BT sent me over an amazing capsule wardrobe with their latest Premium Denim range which includes these two pieces I am wearing above.

I was already a Bohemian Traders customer prior to winning this comp so I can vouch for the quality and the items I received and have worn so far most definitely stand up too. This dress is slightly above the $150 price point that I try to stick to for the blog but given it is a piece that I will wear multiple times and I believe you would too I’ve chosen to include it! These slides however are a bargain at $119!

I will definitely show you the rest of the pieces soon but until then, if you are after some premium denim staples I’d really encourage you to check out Bohemian Traders. xx

Hi guys!

Sorry my blog posts have been a bit sporadic lately! I am starting a new job (of sorts) and so for the first time since becoming a mum, I am having to figure out how to do this working mum juggle in a more permanent way. Up until now it has been manageable to fit in styling clients or small blog projects here and there, but in this new role I am working with another company so I need to work more traditional hours, as well as attend meetings and networking events. I will definitely share more details with you when I can but in the meantime please just bear with me :).

So I had a few staff meetings and training sessions this morning and I was so excited to be able to wear this new “Thousand Star Dress” I received from Daily Style Boutique. I love the cold shoulder details as well as the high neck with a subtle ruffle. Obviously as I am working within the fashion industry I can get away with this as work attire, however if you are in a more corporate environment, this dress would probably be better for weekend wear.

As I’ve mentioned before, ‘Cold Shoulder’ styles are a great take on the ‘Off The Shoulder’ trend. They give you the same effect but are more wearable and flattering on a greater variety of body shapes. I have quite broad shoulders and often look much wider across my chest when I wear an OTS style, however with the cold shoulder silhouette the extension of the sleeve down my arm helps to balance out my shoulders, and give my overall shape more proportion. So if you love the OTS style but don’t feel like it suits you for whatever reason, try the cold shoulder instead!

I hope you are all having a great start to the week, any working mums that can give me some tips on ‘doing it all’, I’d love to hear from you!!

xx

One dress, Two Ways

img_0667-2img_0679

As a style blogger I am always looking for ways to take an item and create lots of different looks with it. This is a great way to save money, keep things interesting, and get more bang for your buck! For this post I decided to show you how I’ve styled a Little White Dress (LWD), two different ways. I feel like a LWD is a staple most women have in their closet for spring and summer already so hopefully this gives you a little inspiration. I’ve also focused on how you can turn a shorter dress into a tunic if you are worried about the length of some of the items in your wardrobe. This tip is especially good for us mums who need a little extra coverage when running around after our little ones.

Casual, tunic style.

Teamed with distressed denim, easy slides and a statement necklace this day time casual combo can take you anywhere. However swap out the flats for heels, lose the hat and this look immediately transitions to night.

Early Valentines Day and Your Closet Hire

Dress: Nicolas via Your Closet Hire ($150 for 4 day rental), Shoes: Witchery (similar here $107.95)

Who else loves Valentines Day? I know it’s a “Hallmark Holiday” and I will admit that since having kids, it often ends up being pretty low-key but I can’t help it, I still love it. I think because I’m a girlie girl at heart, any excuse to wear a feminine dress, have flowers in the house and be surrounded by everything heart-shaped just makes me happy!

With all that being said, I think hubby will be travelling this Valentines Day (sad face) so this weekend we decided to celebrate a little bit early with a special date night on Sunday. We actually had a day date as well. We woke up early on Sunday morning, got the kids ready, piled into the car (with large coffee’s obviously) and headed up to the Yarra Valley. Our first stop was the Lavender farm which was absolutely stunning and of course smelt amazing.

The rest of the day was then about the kids until we came home, cleaned up a bit and headed back out to one of our favourite restaurants in Hawthorn. I felt so amazing in that beautiful red dress from Your Closet Hire.

As I mentioned in this post, this past weekend I was lucky enough to be sent a few pieces from the girls at Your Closet Hire to help me out with my busy weekend. From hosting an Australia Day BBQ to a Girls Night Out and then an early Valentines Day dinner, I had the perfect outfits from amazing designers and what’s better; all the items I chose were $150 or under for a 4 day hire. Here is a little bit about them from their website:

“Your Closet is Australia’s premier online luxury dress rental destination. Your Closet allows you access to luxury Australian and International designers collections at a fraction of the retail price.

At Your Closet, we are rethinking the way Australian women have previously approached their closets. We exist because we believe a beautiful product shouldn’t only be experienced through owning it. Our team is prepared to go the extra length to ensure you sparkle in the perfect dress at all of your special events. We have experienced stylists on board to help every step of the way and to assist with your dress decisions.

By giving women access to remarkable luxury experiences, we’re changing the meaning of ownership and revolutionizing retail in the process.

We deliver Australia wide.”

As you know, I have worked with companies who do a similar thing with designer handbag hire and I have had great experiences but I wasn’t quite sure how it would work with clothing. How would I know my size? Surely clothing is much harder to maintain and keep at a high quality? What if I stain it, will I be paranoid all night?

Well first things first, all three pieces I chose arrived in pristine condition, you would never even know that they had been worn before let alone shipped all over the country. I was particularly impressed with the Camilla products as they are so light weight and delicate, you would think they would show signs of wear and tear but no, they were perfect. In terms of getting your size right, each product has a sizing guide online but you can also correspond with the girls via email and they are so helpful. I was undecided on my size for this Nicolas dress and the lovely Briella helped me to decide which size to go for, and in the end it was the perfect fit.

Finally, will you be paranoid to wear a dress that’s not ‘yours’? Personally I found that I wore it the same way I would wear a special or expensive dress whether it was mine or not. As I’m sure many of you can relate, when you wear something new for the first time, or that one item in your closet that you absolutely  love, you instinctively take a little bit more care and are a little bit more aware of your surroundings. With that being said, when you select a dress for hire you will pay a $5 insurance fee and that covers minor stains and damages. All dresses are dry cleaned once they are returned and before they are sent to the next lucky  customer.

If you head to the Your Closet website you will see a whole list of FAQ’s if you have any more questions, but I wouldn’t hesitate to use this service again and recommend it to everyone I know (like all of you :)). Perfect for weddings, hens nights, special events and celebrations, hiring an amazing designer outfit for a fraction of the price will allow you to look and feel a million bucks. Thanks again Your Closet Hire, I’m already scouting dresses for my next events ;). xxx

Dress: Camilla via Your Closet Hire, Shoes: Rubi Shoes

Happy Australia Day 🙂

I hope all my Aussie friends have had a great day and most of you have enjoyed a day off. My daughter and I went to a birthday party this morning and then my husband and I hosted a BBQ this afternoon.

I wanted to pop in quickly with some pictures of this stunning dress that I was lucky enough to wear today. I am partnering up with Your Closet Hire this weekend and this is one of the dresses I picked out to hire. I will be blogging about the whole experience later this weekend, so today I will just leave you will the pictures (and the link so you can hire it for yourself).

For my fashion sisters out there who know their stuff, yes this dress retails at about $600 but the four day rental price is only $99 which means I am still well within my new $150 (per items) price range! This dress can also be worn multiple ways. I went with the Grecian style, one shoulder look but there are so many other options.

Hope you enjoy the pictures, chat soon! xx

That Floral Feeling

Dress: Market find (similar here for approx $26.40), Shoes: H&M (similar here for $48), Hat: Cotton On (similar here for $29.95), Bag: Market find (similar here for $20) Total cost of linked outfit = $124.35

Hi Friends!

Happy Friday 🌻. I don’t have much time today but I thought I’d just pop in with this look from yesterday. I scored this dress and bag for an absolute steal at some markets recently. I’m not much of a thrifter as I don’t have the time to scourer op shops and thrift stores but I do love to wander weekend markets when I can swing it.

The dress is really baggy and oversized but it’s perfect for a hot day and I love the print and cute little tie at the back. I paired the items with my H&M gold slides and boater hat from Cotton On which means this whole outfit comes in under $150. Total bargain! Obviously because the items are ‘pre loved’ I can’t link the exact items but I have made sure that all the ‘similar’ items I have linked will ensure that you too can get this whole look (or similar) for under $150. Let me know your thoughts.

Have a great weekend everyone xx
