Yay! A blog post! Hi friends, I know it’s been a minute (or two) since my last post and while I can give you all the excuses of work, toddlers, life etc the truth is, I think I’ve just been overthinking it.

Sure I don’t currently have the same time to devote to blogging the way I used to, but I miss it and so why not just adapt and focus on what I CAN do? The easiest and quickest thing to blog is of course an outfit post so this is what you’ve got today!

Distressed denim, an oversized knit and sneakers are always my go to ‘everyday’ items but this particular knit and these new sneakers are now the main players in rotation. The knit is called a ‘Joanna’ knit from Feather and Noise and I have it in two colours (have to stop myself from buying more) and these sneakers are the ‘Nat’ from Frankie4, hands down the comfiest sneakers going and I love the cream leather + white lace combo. I will have to do a separate post about the jacket I am wearing but let me just say, ‘coatigans’ are where it is at this winter!!

Thanks to those of you still reading, I have a few fun posts scheduled to come soon but outside of that I hope I can get better at popping back in regularly, especially with easy outfit posts!

Enjoy the rest of you week. xx

Insta Round Up

Well hello!!! Long time, no blog :(. Things are a little busy over here but tonight I’ve finally managed to carve out some time to quickly pop in to say hi! My camera roll is full of outfits I wanted to share with individual posts but I am so far behind now I figured I’d do a quick round up and hopefully start again fresh next week. If you follow me on instagram you will have seen these looks over the last few weeks so here are all the details.

You might also notice a snazzy new handbag in a few of these pictures. I have started working with a Melbourne based luxury leather handbag company called X Nihilo and they very kindly gifted me one of their designs. This is the Bank bag (direct link below). Obviously this is a higher price point so I have also linked a similar handbag if you just want to achieve the look. However if you are looking to purchase an investment piece, I can 100% vouch for the quality and design of X Nihilo. Also if you are a boutique and you’d like to talk about stocking this line, hit me up too ;).

Hi guys!

Sorry my blog posts have been a bit sporadic lately! I am starting a new job (of sorts) and so for the first time since becoming a mum, I am having to figure out how to do this working mum juggle in a more permanent way. Up until now it has been manageable to fit in styling clients or small blog projects here and there, but in this new role I am working with another company so I need to work more traditional hours, as well as attend meetings and networking events. I will definitely share more details with you when I can but in the meantime please just bear with me :).

So I had a few staff meetings and training sessions this morning and I was so excited to be able to wear this new “Thousand Star Dress” I received from Daily Style Boutique. I love the cold shoulder details as well as the high neck with a subtle ruffle. Obviously as I am working within the fashion industry I can get away with this as work attire, however if you are in a more corporate environment, this dress would probably be better for weekend wear.

As I’ve mentioned before, ‘Cold Shoulder’ styles are a great take on the ‘Off The Shoulder’ trend. They give you the same effect but are more wearable and flattering on a greater variety of body shapes. I have quite broad shoulders and often look much wider across my chest when I wear an OTS style, however with the cold shoulder silhouette the extension of the sleeve down my arm helps to balance out my shoulders, and give my overall shape more proportion. So if you love the OTS style but don’t feel like it suits you for whatever reason, try the cold shoulder instead!

I hope you are all having a great start to the week, any working mums that can give me some tips on ‘doing it all’, I’d love to hear from you!!

xx

That Floral Feeling

Dress: Market find (similar here for approx $26.40), Shoes: H&M (similar here for $48), Hat: Cotton On (similar here for $29.95), Bag: Market find (similar here for $20) Total cost of linked outfit = $124.35

Hi Friends!

Happy Friday 🌻. I don’t have much time today but I thought I’d just pop in with this look from yesterday. I scored this dress and bag for an absolute steal at some markets recently. I’m not much of a thrifter as I don’t have the time to scourer op shops and thrift stores but I do love to wander weekend markets when I can swing it.

The dress is really baggy and oversized but it’s perfect for a hot day and I love the print and cute little tie at the back. I paired the items with my H&M gold slides and boater hat from Cotton On which means this whole outfit comes in under $150. Total bargain! Obviously because the items are ‘pre loved’ I can’t link the exact items but I have made sure that all the ‘similar’ items I have linked will ensure that you too can get this whole look (or similar) for under $150. Let me know your thoughts.

Have a great weekend everyone xx

Affordable Fashion & Great Jumpsuits For Summer

Jumpsuit: My Boutique (similar here {I have this style in the blue, you can see it here}), Jacket: Calvin Klein (similar here), Shoes: Steve Madden, Clutch: Bebe (similar here)

One year on and my love for jumpsuits continues again this summer! I am equal opportunity when it comes to styles. Short sleeved or long, mini or full length, off the shoulder or any where in between. This jumpsuit I’m wearing actually IS from last year, but below I’ve linked some great options that are available now.

This year I am going to be focusing on affordable fashion that is accessible for everyone. It can be really easy to get swept up in the designer world and feel that unless you have the latest Gucci item you are not ‘on-trend’ but that is just not true. Fashion is really, really fast these days with new trends and ‘must have’ items coming out every month rather than every season. I have always said that if you want to splurge and buy a designer or expensive item then it should be a classic, investment piece. Jumpsuits, strappy sandals, denim shorts, torn jeans etc etc are the items you can save on, but they will be the items that make up your day to day wardrobe so that’s what you will see here at The Mummy Style Files.

But what is AFFORDABLE? Obviously price points are a subjective thing but for me I’ve determined that it will be $150 and under. I’ve based that on what (and where) I know you can get within that price range and it also means that you won’t have to skimp on quality or exceed that for a special occasion piece. Occasionally I will also showcase a FULL OUTFIT  for $150 total. Yes, that will include shoes and accessories. So I hope you are excited to see what I will be doing this year here and that you enjoy the affordable focus :).

So lets get into the jumpsuits! Here are my favourites below.

Miss Selfridge via The Iconic $99.95

I love the V neck and wide legs on this one. A V neckline is really great at opening up the chest area and is really flattering for those with a larger bust or broad shoulders.

Leigh Jumpsuit via Billy J Boutique $64

Blush pink is a huge trend for Summer again and this jumpsuit is so light and flowy it almost looks like a dress.

Mink Pink ‘Wategos’ jumpsuit via The Iconic $99.95

Off the Shoulder and print makes this a great casual jumpsuit option. Perfect for weekends or low key get togethers.

Boho Bird ‘Jump Around Jumpsuit’ via Birdsnest $109.95

Another one for my print loving gals. This style features a more tapered leg line which looks great with statement heels and elongates the legs.

Have a look here for some more options here, here and here.

I hope you are all having a great weekend, leave me a comment if you have any feedback or suggestions for me :).
